Sunnyside Men's Softball Team

Our church has a men's softball team, which Nathan plays on. They are 2 and 2 so far. They play on a completely astro-turf field which makes it much easier and cleaner to play on in the rain.

Defeat through FAITH

Even though I am happily married and life is wonderful, I feel like I'm going through a Job time. What I mean by this is that while I am receiving incredible blessings from God, I feel extremely under attack spiritually, physically, and emotionally. The more that those who have their hope in Christ decide to stand for Christ, the more they become the devil's enemy...

I survived...

...my first week of work! Cleaning all day really isn't that bad, but I must say that I am more than a little sore! From what I hear, from those more experienced than I, after the first few weeks I'll have no trouble at all. But I will admit, eight hours doesn't always go by quickly.

What does help the time pass is the ability to have an iPod with me. I've been listening to some really interesting sermons and soon I'm going to start listening to some of the prophet books in the Old Testament. Next semester I have a class called "Prophets" where we'll be going over those books, so I thought I may as well get a head start.

Plus, I'm making some new friends, so that's always nice. One of them is getting married next month. She and her soon-to-be husband are going to be our neighbors.

So far, it's been a great start to our summer. A little tiring in some ways, but a relief in others. Hope that you all are doing well!

I am finished with finals and school...

...well, for this semester anyway! Since there isn't any homework to do, I don't know what to do with myself. I don't have to multi-task anymore? I mean, memorizing flashcards while doing the dishes was an adventure and all, but I'm so glad I'm done.

I have a couple more days of freedom and then I start my job as custodial staff on campus. It's a 40-hour a week job, so I'm very thankful for that. Nice thing is that it goes from 7-3:30, so I'll get home early. This will be a big transition for me though.

I have some good opportunities this summer and the fall. I'll be writing a couple news stories over the summer for our school's September newspaper. Then I'll also get to design some posters that will be put all over Portland for a square-dancing group. I may design some ads for them, as well.

Please be praying for me. There are a couple job opportunities I need to look into for the fall too. One is a English tutor for the college students here. I would just help people with their papers. The second is working with the communications department here at school - designing and writing things for them. Either of these or both of them would be a great opportunity!

Nathan's going to be busy with work too, but he also has some fun things every week. He's part of our church's men's softball team. This has been a great way to get to know people--for both of us. Then he also just joined a men's hockey league. This is so much fun for him! And of course I enjoy watching and cheering him on!

Love you all!

oh...

...and here's Josh! He's doing good! He'll be back home to see everyone very soon....only a couple of weeks.

4 months!

Well, Nathan and I have been married for a little over four months...I can't believe it's already been that long! We are so wonderfully happy together and excited about what God's doing in our lives as a married couple. The Lord's teaching us how to rely on Him...the closer we are to Him, the better our relationship is.

I'm married to such a wonderful and godly man. How blessed I am!

I feel like I have learned so many amazing lessons these last few months. The process of learning things hasn't always been fun, but the end result always makes it all worthwhile. I guess I didn't realize how selfish I can be until after getting married and now God's using our relationship and this new understanding to refine and shape me. I am so glad about what the Lord is doing in our life together.

Thank you again to everyone who served and sacrificed to make our wedding so beautiful. We are so thankful for each of you and feel so blessed to have your love!

Love you all,
Liz
