Dorm Section Retreat

My dorm section went on a retreat, this last week, to a small town called Dufur. Hannah's (my roommate) grandmother lives there and she was gracious enough to let us stay with her for a couple days. Being in the country again was a nice switch up from the hustle and bustle of living in Portland. The sun was out and so we spent most of Saturday outside, hiking around and then taking naps in the sunshine.

On Sunday, Iva (Hannah's grandma), took us all to church with her, where she proudly showed us off and introduced us to many people. She even introduced some of the girls to young men...it was pretty funny! The most interesting person we met was an elderly man who would strike up random conversations with us about whatever popped into his head. He even yodeled for us, which was amazing! He continued to yodel and talk to us until his wife come to get him. "These young people need to get going," she said as she gently smiled and took his arm. "Alright," he said, and then we hurried off with Iva before he could continue telling us about the college football games he had missed a while back.

This picture includes 7 out of the 11 girls in my dorm section. Unfortunatley, not everyone could make it, but for those who did, it turned out to be very restful.

Now we're ready to pull through and finish out the semester!

I spent Easter weekend with Nathan and his family...it's finally spring here and it's beautiful! We all had such a wonderful time of spending time together and remembering Christ's love for us--it was awesome!

Not being home and helping out with all the Easter/church things was strange...but from what I hear, everything seemed to go well!

Love you all! Can't wait to be home soon :) -- May 18th!

CONGRATS!

Sole Technology Brand Teams

A year ago, Mike Regan became the etnies Brand/Business-Director, providing strategic direction and day to day leadership for our largest Brand. With the progress that we have seen with etnies, it was believed that the other Brands would benefit from a similar structure. The plan was to establish a similar role for the combined brands of eS, emerica and altamont and move 32 under Mike Regan, with etnies.

From the time the decision to post the position of Business/Brand Director-eS, emerica and altamont was made, our business, like the US economy has continued to erode. While I firmly believe in the mid to long term benefits of this position, in order to focus all Company efforts against our top three priorities (etnies, Sole Technology-Europe and apparel), the search for this position has been suspended for a minimum of 6-9 months.

In the interim, our focus must be on revenue growth and profit optimization.

With regard to eS, emerica and altamont, new processes/procedures will be implemented to ensure that these important Brands are positioned and tracking towards future growth.

With regard to 32, given all of the natural synergy with etnies, Mike Regan will assume responsibility for the strategic leadership and business direction for the Brand and the leadership of the team, effective immediately.

We are going through some very challenging times, times that cause us to think and act with a short term orientation. We need to stabilize our business and continue to focus on our priorities to ensure a better future.

Any questions, let me know.

Paul
