CALEB MURRELL .......... AS HE SEES IT
My dearest of friends and family,
I realize I haven't sent an update letter for about a year. I’m not going to make up for it, and write a novel, but give a brief picture of this last year, the now, and what's ahead.
Last year.
Moving to San Diego and being close to my parents and extended family has been full of life. Hope you enjoy these candid moments below!
The Now.
Josiah (My good friend from Chicago) and I have been looking for new ways to be involved in the life of our neighborhood. We've had neighbors over for dinner, joined in community events, and are open to how the Spirit will lead and move with us being present to those around us.
Yep, meet Abby!
Meeting Abby Coster has been a little dreamy to say the least. She was a missionary with TEAM the last three years in Mexico, and is now studying clinical counseling at Denver Seminary. Our hearts have grown fond for each other as our shared love for God and people has brought us together.
What's Ahead.
In my role as a Coach with TEAM, I’ve spent many hours hearing about people’s lives and their longing to join in God’s redemptive story in this world. Hearing countless stories of people’s journeys has awaken in me a love for the unique ways Jesus is unfolding His Kingdom. The blooming of "new" expressions of local churches has always caught my attention.
A church expression that is on the growing rapidly around the world are International churches. When I say International Church, I mean a group of people who are typically not of the national passport country. Often a mixture of wealthy expatriates, refugees, and a scattering of everything in between.
There are more people scattering around the world than ever before. Either because of war creating displaced peoples, or because of the global marketplace, and general migration. I’ve stepped into a new role, that will consist in resourcing these international churches to be on mission with God in the flourishing of their communities and cities. Many of these churches are in a unique place in history, with the privilege to legally gather together to worship and be involve in God's redemptive work. Our goal is to empower these churches to catch the vision of living as whole life disciples in God's mission, in places of great need.
Pray with me:
- As I go to the Missional International Church Network Conference this April in Bangkok. We'll be strategizing and planning for the areas we'll be resourcing the International Church movement.
- Prayer as Abby and I navigate long distance relationship. Denver to San Diego flights have been affordable and direct, so that's been helpful.
- I'm currently working with a dozen or so people taking their careers internationally to live in strategic areas of the world for the mission of God. These people are in engineering, IT, teaching, and many other vocations. Pray with me as we navigate huge life changes for these people, and discerning how and where people go.
Love you all,
Caleb
