My Fall Break trip was splendid for three reasons: 1) I got to stay with my best friend and brother! 2) I got to go with my girlfriend, Sarah! 3) I got to see a beautiful big city, Chicago. Following a 5 hour delay at the far from scenic Las Vegas airport, we departed our layover East-bound towards the Windy City. We caught a few uncomfortable minutes of sleep in the sky and then landed at the Midway airport about 3:30am. Our arrival felt wonderful, we stretched our legs and were greeted by our merry siblings (Caleb and Melody)! Being the night-time-personalities that they are they welcomed us in cheer and energy - and yes, Sarah's sister also lives in Chicago and attends Moody Bible Institute! Crazy right? Anyways, we each got to spend time one on one with our siblings and as a group (the four of us). It was a complete blessing to see where Caleb lives, meet his friends, attend his church, see his ministries, etc. Also, Caleb has become quite adept at navigating the city (impressive seeing Pine Valley's population is 2,000). He took Sarah, Melody, and I all over the city, giving us a personal tour of the big and little sights of Chicago. We got to eat deep dish, Portillo's, in Little India, and in China Town. China Town proved to be the most interesting and the most delicious. The knowledge Caleb had about the food we were eating was surprising (either that or he was just acting like he knew what we were eating), and it was fun to partake in a place that is so close to his heart. Overall the trip was a blast and I came back spiritually encouraged and awed that I had the opportunity to travel with Sarah to Chicago to visit both of our siblings. A complete blessing!
