As you’ve surely heard, President Barack Obama came to the Bay Area last night as part of a fundraising trip. After spending some time in Pacific Heights last night, he headed down the Peninsula this morning for brunch at the Atherton home of Liz Simons and Mark W. Heising.
Verrine of housemade granola, Straus yogurt, spring berries and mint "caviar":

Naturally, the event’s menu featured plenty of familiar faces, though unlike last fall’s chef-centric affair, this time, the spotlight was on local farms.
So which Bay Area producers got the prized audience with the POTUS? The brunch offerings were organized by
Margaret Teskey of Taste Catering & Event Planning and the meal started with blood orange juice, courtesy of Hamada Farms, the Kingsburg farm run by Yukio Hamada and his family.
The subsequent “morning amuse” was a verrine of housemade organic granola with spring berries and yogurt from Petaluma’s Straus Family Creamery. That was followed by Boho Belle Cheese made by another North Bay dairy specialist, Bohemian Creamery, served with fig sesame jam, arugula and balsamic. The menu finale was an open-faced salmon gravlax sandwich on sprouted rye bread, adorned with a medley of local products: asparagus tips from Zuckerman’s Farms (Stockton), grapefruit oil from O Olive Oil (Petaluma) and smoked bacon from Hobb’s Smoked Meats (El Cerrito).
