E-mail update from Caleb Murrell. If you have trouble viewing, view this e-mail in your browser Basketball/English Camp Hosting a basketball/English camp for kids who had never interacted with a non-Chinese person, was an incredible experience. Three people went with me to the school, with two of them being my main helpers. With their help, we put on a high-quality camp with custom-made jersey's and awards. We even included the Chinese all-time favorite: Speeches to both begin and end the camp. The weather forecast predicted heavy rain for each day of the camp. I was discouraged when I woke up the first morning to a dreadful down pour. We began the camp that morning inside with the speeches and a short English lesson. But then from that point on, the rain stopped and a fresh coolness settled on Xiajia. We played basketball in cool air, which is pretty amazing considering we're in the second hottest area in China. The last day of the camp was a half day ending at 11 am. And guess what? The rain came down, on the dot, at 11 am just as we finished up the camp. A big thank you goes to the Boss! Also, thank you for joining with me during this time. I will be going on a three-day trip with my Chinese friends here to Le Yie, which has the biggest sink holes in the world. Looking forward to spending time with these friends. Caleb After the camp, the leader of the school took us up a mountain for a special dinner for only really important people, and me. While we were there, the owner had this great idea to have me write something in English, which he is going to hand carve out and hang in his house. Although I was extremely skeptical, he loved it. I'm attempting to suck a snail out of its shell. You really have to give it a strong, quick suck to get the whole snail on the first try. Copyright © 2013 Caleb Murrell, All rights reserved.
